VOCATIONS & EQUIPMENT

Find a spoil, finish Jiera’s quest, then plan your appraisals

Bring an unidentified spoil from Norgan to Jiera in the Norgandian Settlement and pay the displayed Rift Crystal fee to appraise it. For Relics of the Past, any suitable spoil can advance the introduction; the waterfall pickup is one route rather than a mandatory unique quest item.

Choose the next step: no spoil yet → find the introductory pickup or loot an enemy; carrying one → return to Jiera; short of RC → check her exchange menu before buying or farming anything.

Your first relic: use the objective as a checkpoint

AllThingsHow’s illustrated Relics of the Past walkthrough places Jiera beside the settlement bonfire, under the porch of a wooden house. The quest follows Chilling Tidings. Before a spoil is in your inventory, asking about relics gives an instruction to find one; it is not evidence that her service is broken.[1]

  1. Leave through the settlement’s stone arch into Valgr Ravine.
  2. Follow the road downhill to the lake and waterfall area.
  3. Look for the submerged wreck beneath the second waterfall; the walkthrough identifies a Lv 1 Light Weaponry spoil there. Check the item name before returning: nearby ordinary supplies are not the same pickup.[1]
  4. Return to Jiera, choose Tell me of relics, and use the appraisal screen. The introduction is complete after the appraisal, not simply after speaking to her.

This landmark route and the example fee come from that single illustrated walkthrough; we have not replayed it. The broader loop—collect rewards in Norgan, return to the settlement, pay RC—is also described by VGC and NoobFeed.[2][3]

When Rift Crystals run short

First appraisal, no RC savedThe introductory walkthrough reports Jiera giving 300 RC; its example Lv 1 weapon costs 15 RC.[1]These numbers describe that introduction, not every relic.
Several unwanted spoils already collectedCheck Jiera’s menu for exchanging unwanted spoils for RC.[4]Inspect what you give up before confirming.
Ducats availableThe reviewed RC guide identifies Rift Crystal Hunks sold by Dwayne at the settlement inn.[4]Read the current stock and price; this is not a claim of unlimited free currency.
A higher fee than expectedUse the appraisal screen’s quoted cost and your current balance.Do not apply one example price to every level or item category.

Appraisal is identification, not a guaranteed upgrade

VGC describes randomized equipment outcomes and possible non-equipment rewards. A disappointing roll therefore does not by itself show that the appraisal failed.[2] NoobFeed also describes equipment effects that change skills or provide defensive benefits.[3] Compare the revealed effect with your current setup before replacing a piece purely for a larger headline number.

For a practical loop, collect what you can safely carry, return to Jiera, read the fee, and compare the resulting equipment. Keep a working setup while you assess the next one. This guide does not promise drop percentages, a guaranteed named weapon, or a save-reload reroll method.

Keep appearance and combat upgrades separate

Appraisal makes a spoil usable; it does not unlock Hal’s tailoring service. Follow the transmog quest and eligibility guide for appearance changes, and use the build decision guide when a newly revealed skill or stamina effect changes your options.
