Use the action your vocation provides
| What you want | Native behavior | Practical action |
|---|---|---|
| Keep a melee camera fixed on one enemy | No dedicated universal hard-lock toggle is documented. | Control facing and camera position during the attack. |
| Aim an Archer shot precisely | Steady Shot provides manual aiming. | Use that action and place the reticle on the target. |
| Fire ranged light attacks toward nearby enemies | Some attacks assist targeting when facing an enemy in range. | Check facing and range; this is not a persistent camera lock. |
| Target parts with a Magick Archer | Its targeting can mark enemy points for homing arrows. | Aim across the desired target or body parts before releasing. |
Prima describes Archer aiming and assisted ranged attacks; GameRevolution distinguishes Magick Archer targeting from a universal toggle. Their launch-era guides establish these native systems. We have not performed an October 2026 controller test. [1][2]
Use the action labels shown by your own control settings and on-screen prompts. The official web manual returned a fetch error during this check, so this guide does not invent a keyboard key or treat one console button layout as universal. Remapped controls can also differ from a video tutorial.
The PC lock-on mod is a separate option
alphaZomega's Nexus Mods · Lock-On Combat with Dodge ↗ [3] requires REFramework and _ScriptCore. The author page displayed version 1.15, last updated 23 November 2024, when checked on 16 October 2026. That date does not establish compatibility with the current game or Dark Arisen. [3]
The author's default gamepad scheme clicks the right stick to lock on, moves it left/right to switch targets and up/down to change the targeted joint. These are mod controls, not native bindings. [3]
Before relying on the mod
- Check the author's current files, requirements and recent support posts for your game build.
- Back up your save and record existing mods before changing the setup.
- Test aiming and your chosen vocation in a low-stakes encounter.
- If it interferes with skills, disable it through the author's documented controls and retest the native behavior.
The author warns that some skills may require disabling the mod. For jitter, the documented advice is to disable Camera Tracking and Auto Adjust. Those instructions do not verify 2026 compatibility. [3]
Console players cannot use this PC REFramework installation route. If the main goal is ranged target assistance, the Magick Archer unlock is an in-game progression route; it does not turn melee combat into a universal lock-on system.
